Microsoft has finally shut down its pioneer web browser, Internet Explorer in June 2022.

The end of Internet Explorer. The end of an era!
Microsoft launched the original version of Internet Explorer in August 1995. After 27 years on the world’s computer screens, Microsoft was finally shutting down its pioneer web browser, Internet Explorer (IE), on 15th June 2022.

Many felt nostalgic when they heard the news as Explorer had remained the dominant internet browser for many years before being cast aside by Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, etc.

The future of Internet Explorer is in Microsoft Edge.
Internet Explorer 11 has retired and users will be directed to its new modern browser, Microsoft Edge with IE mode. The company mentioned that they will no longer provide fixes or updates to the existing version of Internet Explorer.

According to Microsoft, "Not only is Microsoft Edge a faster, more secure and more modern browsing experience than Internet Explorer, but it is also able to address a key concern: compatibility for older, legacy websites and applications.”
