The annual Sakura floral display returns to Gardens by the Bay for its 11th edition, this time drawing inspiration from the rich cultural heritage of Japan’s Ishikawa Prefecture.

Held in partnership with the Embassy of Japan in Singapore, Sakura 2026 transforms the Flower Dome into a dreamy spring landscape filled with over 30 varieties of cherry, peach and plum blossoms in soft pink, white and deep pink hues.

Visitors can stroll through scenery inspired by Ishikawa’s historic districts, where wooden chaya buildings with traditional lattice façades evoke the atmosphere of a geisha quarter. The journey then continues to a recreation of an Edo period samurai residence modelled after the former home of a samurai family in Kanazawa.

One of the centrepieces of the display is the Nomura Samurai House, inspired by the historic residence of the Nomura family, a samurai household that once served the Maeda clan. The two storey house includes traditional features such as tatami rooms, wooden sliding doors and an engawa veranda overlooking a peaceful courtyard garden.

Floral landscapes throughout the dome also take cues from Kenrokuen, one of Japan’s most celebrated landscape gardens. A picturesque bridge stretches across a tranquil pond beneath a canopy of blooming flowers, creating one of the most photogenic scenes in the exhibition.

Adding a playful touch to the display, beloved characters from Sanrio make special appearances among the blossoms. Visitors can spot fan favourites such as Hello Kitty, My Melody, Pompompurin, Cinnamoroll and Kuromi scattered throughout the floral wonderland.

Guests who visit the Flower Dome during the event period can also stand a chance to win a dream trip to Japan with All Nippon Airways.
