Starting 02 January 2025, customers will need to pay a nominal fee for additional sauces beyond the allocated quantities provided with specific menu items.
According to McDonald’s, the decision was driven by rising food costs and efforts to reduce wastage, marking a change in how condiments are distributed. While ketchup and garlic chili sauce will remain free within fixed allocations, other sauces will incur charges as follows:
Chicken McNuggets Dipping Sauces (BBQ, Curry, Honey Mustard): $0.50 per tub
Hotcakes Syrup: $0.50 per tub
Whipped Butter Pad (for Hotcakes and Corn Cup): $0.50 per tub
Salad Dressing (Japanese Roasted Sesame): $0.70 per packet

Fans of the curry sauce, long cherished as a staple for many McDonald’s meals, may find the adjustment bittersweet. The brand reassures customers that the allocation of sauces has been carefully considered to balance enjoyment with sustainability.
With the introduction of additional charges for the condiments, customers may need to adjust their expectations while continuing to enjoy their favorite McDonald’s meals.
