At the base of Mondrian Duxton, temper. introduces a new kind of lounge culture to Singapore. Located at 83 Neil Road, this wine room and restaurant has created a setting that invites presence, not just passing. It is a place that encourages guests to settle in, with every detail designed to hold attention rather than demand it.

Founded on the idea that good things take time, temper. brings together over 1,200 wine labels, a selection of classic cocktails with contemporary twists, and a menu shaped by Michelin-starred talent.

Crafted by HW Homeworks, the interiors offer an experience that is both immersive and calming. Curves lead the eye through the space, softening its modern edges and encouraging a slow rhythm. Walls are wrapped in warm terracotta and walnut hues, creating a rich visual texture that complements the palette of the food and drink.

Ambient lighting is layered rather than loud. It pools gently over sculptural elements, highlights arches and casts subtle shadows across the velvet curtains and curated finishes. Nothing here is flat or rushed. Every angle is considered and every transition flows.

This continuous visual language carries through every space, from the bar to the lounge to the tucked-away dining alcoves. The result is a sense of cohesion that feels natural and unforced. There is a warmth to the space that suggests care without excess.

Guests may perch at the central bar, settle into plush curved booths, or slip into quieter corners where wine accompanies unhurried conversation. A built-in DJ booth and live music performances add rhythm to the room, with jazz, soul and R&B mingling seamlessly with the clink of glassware and the glow of soft lighting.

The name temper. itself reflects the venue’s approach. In both wine and design, tempering is a process of controlled refinement. It is where texture, timing and temperature align to create balance. The same principles are evident in every part of this space, from the hospitality to the material finishes.

The layout allows guests to move fluidly through the space, while still offering clear moments for pause. Built-in shelving becomes artful display. Arched entrances become visual anchors. Even the wine cellar becomes a centrepiece.

Above all, temper. is a reminder that design is not just about what can be seen, but how it makes you feel. Here, the interiors are not simply a backdrop but an active part of the experience. The space holds you, slows you and encourages you to stay.
