Helping Hand Card Launched to Support Inclusive Commuting in Singapore

This new yellow card helps commuters discreetly signal when they need extra assistance on their journeys.

Navigating public transport can be challenging for those with hidden disabilities or temporary conditions that affect mobility, awareness or confidence. Recognising this, the Land Transport Authority has launched the Helping Hand card — a discreet tool that makes it easier for people to seek support during their commute.

Starting today, commuters can collect the Helping Hand card at all MRT station Passenger Service Centres, bus interchange Passenger Service Centres and selected SimplyGo Ticket Offices. Designed in a bright yellow shade for easy visibility, the card allows users to indicate the type of assistance they may need. This could include help tapping their fare card, getting alerted to their stop or finding their way if lost.

The card was developed based on public feedback and is part of a wider move to create a more inclusive commuting experience. It serves as a gentle signal to public transport staff and fellow commuters that someone may require additional support, even if it is not immediately obvious.

This initiative is part of Singapore’s broader effort to make the public transport system more inclusive and accessible for all. The Helping Hand card is a reminder that support begins with awareness and action.
