Giving Textbooks a Second Life: How to Support FairPrice Group’s Share-A-Textbook 2025

As the school term comes to an end, don’t throw away textbooks that are still in good condition. Instead, donate them to the FairPrice Group’s Share-A-Textbook Initiative!

Since its inception in 1983, the FairPrice Group’s Share-A-Textbook initiative has remained a heartfelt community effort that champions accessibility, affordability, and environmental responsibility. This year’s edition continues that legacy, inviting everyone in Singapore to donate, collect, and support the circular use of educational materials.

At its core, the initiative provides pre-loved textbooks and learning resources to families at no cost. It reduces financial strain for households preparing for the new academic year while encouraging sustainable habits by extending the lifespan of books.

How to Get Involved

  1. Donate

    • From 13 to 26 Nov 2025, members of the public can contribute gently used textbooks that follow the current MOE syllabus.

    • Donation points include 9 FairPrice Xtra hypermarkets and the Tzu Chi Humanistic Youth Centre in Yishun, with some locations open 24 hours for added convenience.

  2. Volunteer

    • Volunteering slots from 27 Nov to 6 Dec 2025 have been fully filled, with overwhelming support from individuals and groups across Singapore.

    • Volunteers play a crucial role in sorting and preparing the books for distribution.

  3. Collect

    • The Distribution Drive will take place on 5 and 6 Dec 2025, from 9am to 7pm (last admission at 6pm), at Tzu Chi Humanistic Youth Centre.

    • No registration is needed. Attendees can simply walk in and collect a queue number to enter.

    • To ensure fair access, each visitor is encouraged to collect only what they need.

Sustainability Focus

Any unclaimed textbooks at the end of the initiative will be sent to recycling centres. This final step closes the loop by ensuring unused materials are not wasted, reinforcing the initiative’s strong sustainability goals.

Celebrate the Legacy

Visitors to the venue can also explore the Evolving with Purpose exhibition. Held onsite at the Tzu Chi Humanistic Youth Centre, this showcase highlights over four decades of community-driven giving, from textbooks to broader FairPrice programmes supporting everyday essentials and community well-being.
