Whenever you think of oysters, what comes to your mind?
You would probably imagine yourself sitting by the seaside, enjoying the gentle breeze of a tropical beach surrounding you, while slowly slurping those fresh oysters.
“In the same way, the client would like to deliver a similar dining experience for the lovely customers of Angie’s Oyster Bar & Grill.”
The client requested to play with the beach's colour scheme (which consists of various colours such as soft blue, white, and terracotta) as it would create a more relaxed and enjoyable dining experience that helped customers escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.
“The idea was to have them feel as though they were on a breezy vacation, having a nice seafood meal by the blue ocean.”

Angie's Oyster Bar & Grill occupies the second floor unit of Tan Boon Liat building, which possesses a unique hexagonal shape with a pitched roof and high ceiling, creating an attractive symmetrical layout for the designer to play around with.
As the unit is located away from the ground level, the designer can create a "rooftop" alfresco dining area for the diners to look out and enjoy the outdoor scenery right from where they are seated.
The Outdoor Dining Area
Angie's Oyster Bar & Grill is mainly differentiated into two separate outdoor and indoor dining areas. Both areas emit slightly different atmospheres. However, the owners managed to work closely with the designers of Homeworks Consultancy to find balance in creating that welcoming beach-like alfresco ambience.

The overall materiality of the space is mainly textured with hollowed bricks, outdoor woven chairs paired with marble table tops, potted plants, palm trees, and some customized items made of rattan.
