Designer Maarten De Ceulaer emphasized a minimalist approach in the lamp's design, ensuring that all focus remains on the interplay of light and shadow. He planned and positioned the LED bulbs to create the precise shadow effects that made the lamp so distinctive.

This meticulous design process led to razor-sharp edges that allow the light to pulse and weave into warm, geometric patterns. According to Modular Lighting Instruments, the simplicity of the design is what makes it so captivating. "Impulse is very architectural – the interplay of light and shadow is simply shown. This simplicity is what makes the outcome surprising and beautiful."

The Impulse wall light's minimalistic design ensures it can blend seamlessly into a variety of interior settings, from residential and wellness spaces to hospitality and office environments. When the light is off, the fixture remains unobtrusive and abstract. It allows the light itself to take center stage when illuminated. Its clean lines and minimalist form offer endless possibilities to highlight architectural features, turning any wall into a canvas for light.
