The highly anticipated Big Book Giveaway is back, and this year it is bigger, better, and brimming with bookish charm. Happening over the weekend of 13 to 14 Sep 2025, this event invites the community to browse, exchange, and adopt pre-loved books entirely free of charge.

Held at The Plaza, Level 1 of the National Library Building, this initiative by Public Libraries Singapore celebrates sustainable reading by giving books a second life and encouraging mindful consumption.

Visitors are welcome to take home as many titles as they like, so long as they bring their own reusable bags. From novels and children’s reads to inspirational finds, there is something for every reader.

Those who wish to contribute can also bring their own books to donate. Simply ensure that donations are capped at 50 books per person and exclude the following:

• Religious materials

• Textbooks and magazines

• Annual reports

• DVDs and CDs

• AV materials

• Damaged or worn-out books

As a bonus, 60 lucky participants will be selected for a lucky dip with exciting prizes. This small surprise adds extra joy to an already delightful weekend of sharing and community bonding.
