During Sakura season, Gardens by the Bay will be open from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm daily, allowing visitors ample time to bask in the beauty of the cherry blossoms. While admission to the Flower Dome applies, the experience promises to be well worth it as you immerse yourself in the ethereal atmosphere of the season.
One of the highlights of Sakura season is the live Japanese Tea Ceremony demonstration held at the Flower Dome. Known as Chanoyu or Chado, this traditional cultural activity involves the ceremonial preparation and serving of matcha accompanied by a Japanese sweet. Visitors can participate in the Tea Ceremony on a pay-as-you-like basis, with all proceeds going towards Gardens by the Bay's Gift of Gardens community outreach initiative.

Two renowned schools of Japanese tea ceremony will be showcasing their artistry during Sakura season. Chado by Urasenke Singapore will be featured on Mar 23 and 24, while Chanoyu by Omotesenke Hoseikai will take place on Mar 30 and 31, as well as Apr 6 and 7. These demonstrations offer visitors the opportunity to witness the intricate rituals and philosophy behind the art of tea-making.
Urasenke is one of the main schools of Japanese tea ceremony, aiming to bring people together through "The Way of Tea." Meanwhile, Omotesenke Hoseikai, founded by Professor Tomoko Ueda, promotes the philosophy of chanoyou and the omotesenke tradition of sado. With well over 300 members, including Singaporeans and non-Japanese, Hoseikai-Singapore has been instrumental in preserving and sharing the art of tea ceremony.
