Marketed as a captivating event filled with positivity and cherished memories, the festival's inaugural edition was expected to feature lanterns illuminated by burning candles, gracefully floating in the night sky tethered to the ground by lengthy strings.
However, the excitement quickly turned to disappointment when participants were informed of the cancellation of the candlelight release due to unforeseen circumstances. Despite the setback, organizers attempted to salvage the situation by providing attendees with lanterns, pens, and LED lights, encouraging them to pen their wishes and participate in the tradition, albeit in an underwhelming, modified form.

The abrupt cancellation of the main attraction led to a surge of discontent among attendees, many of whom took to social media platforms to express their grievances. Long queues formed as participants sought refunds for their S$50 lanterns, feeling misled and dissatisfied with the turn of events.
