Sometimes it's the simplest ideas that make the most sense. Case in point: Blincclip, a simple, double-sided flat card of reflective material that's designed to blink while you ride. It uses no batteries, has no mounts to affix to (or break), and weighs less than a dollop of chamois cream.

What do you do when your bike's rear light dies during your ride in the middle of the night?

Perhaps a simple question like this will let you understand how Blincclip is here to rescue you from such a palm-sweating experience on the road.

The fear of being rear-ended will haunt you throughout the journey, and it is undoubtedly an awful moment you do not want to encounter. What’s worse is when you don't even notice the rear light is dead until halfway through the ride.

Frustrated with such situations, Francis and David decided to create a super reflector for those emergency moments.

What is Blincclip?

Blincclip is a high-performance reflector that blinks dynamically under the power of your movement, helping you to be noticed by any approaching drivers within your perimeters.

Super bright and blinks by itself.

A blinking reflector is much more attention-grabbing than a static reflector. In case your rear light suddenly dies, Blincclip will always be there blinking and reflecting headlights without the use of batteries. It is also easy to carry everywhere.

Carry one in your wallet for that spontaneous need!

It simply hangs freely over the seat rails and responds to every movement as you pedal. The material, shape, size, and weight are optimized for the great pendulum effect. Plus, It blinks dynamically throughout every situation. It is responsive to the speed you are riding, terrain, and wind. On top of that, it goes static when you brake!

Material and Specs

Blincclip: 88 x 66mm. It is incredibly thin (1mm) and light (3.5grams). It uses a 3M Diamond Grade reflector that is usually used for high-performance purposes such as in highways and airplane runway signs. It is incredibly bright and has an amazing viewing angle to ensure that you will be seen from any angle.

Blincclip is versatile. It can fit on any bike from foldie to roadie in a snap.

With the additional string, Blincclip can practically be attached to anywhere that the riders see fit.

No screw. No glue. Leaving your bike clean and sleek!

It started back in 2011. Francis’s involvement in promoting safe cycling in the community has made him realize that it is crucial to catch a driver's attention from far, and that allows more time for the driver to respond to a nearby upcoming cyclist. He then developed several versions of the "safety flag" which move dynamically to attract attention from the drivers.

In September 2019, Francis collaborated with David to finally develop its latest version called Blincclip, the first blinking reflector!

“Every material, shape, size, weights, and ways of attaching do greatly affect the blinking performance of the reflector. Hence, together with the community, we keep testing and fine-tuning blincclip in order to get the right amount of everything and blink at the best rate.”

Blincclip has gained a lot of recognition from people worldwide, especially among cyclists in the cycling scene!

Just a couple weeks ago, I discovered that one of my blinking lights was not working as I was leaving work in the rain, so I can definitely appreciate the value of a low tech backup.

- James Thomas, Bicycle Design

It is one of those simple, but very effective, 'why didn't I think of that' type products!

- Mark Sander, UK, Designer of IF Mode, Strida folding bikes

The Blincclip easily clipped on my saddle rails and has stayed there through sun, rain and high-speed descents. It is reassuring that it is there jiggling away and making me more conspicuous on the road.

- Tom Webster, Singapore/London, Bicycle infrastructure engineer/amateur racer
