A Taste of Italy on Amoy Street: Scarpetta Pasta Bar Delivers Handmade Comfort in Style

Tucked along the ever-lively Amoy Street, Scarpetta Pasta Bar has quickly established itself as a standout destination for lovers of authentic Italian fare. With a name that nods to the Italian act of using bread to mop up every last drop of sauce, Scarpetta fully embodies the comforting intimacy of a classic pasta meal done right.

Each plate of pasta at Scarpetta is handmade from scratch every morning, with production starting as early as 6am. This dedication to craft limits portions daily, but what diners receive is worth the wait. The menu features a rotating selection of hearty dishes, starting from a wallet-friendly $18 and capping at $26—an impressive feat for a restaurant nestled in the heart of Singapore’s Central Business District.

The experience extends beyond food. Designed by Gondo & Jules and built by HW Construction, the 30-seater interior channels rustic elegance with a contemporary twist. Warm tones, marble countertops, and woven textures create a cosy, elevated space. Soft lighting and sculptural mirrors reflect diffused amber hues throughout the space, while the bar seating and open kitchen concept encourage a sense of conviviality and openness.

Scarpetta’s open kitchen setup is both inviting and transparent, allowing diners to witness the craft that goes into every dish. From rolling dough to plating pasta, the team’s culinary discipline is always on display. The space is compact, but the layout is cleverly maximised to preserve comfort and intimacy—whether seated at the bar or tucked into one of the small tables flanking the tiled wall.

This is not a place for formality. Walk-ins are welcome and encouraged. With no reservations accepted, the experience is designed to feel spontaneous and relaxed—just like the food it serves.

Scarpetta has mastered the art of simplicity without sacrificing soul. In a landscape of flashy dining trends, it stands out for returning to what truly matters: good food, warm hospitality, and spaces that invite people to slow down and savour the moment.
