A Studio Ghibli Symphony: Original Singers Bring Iconic Anime Music to Life in Singapore

Fans of Studio Ghibli and orchestral music are in for a rare and unforgettable evening this June. For the first time, The Music of STUDIO GHIBLI – Original Singers Symphony will take the stage at The Star Theatre, Singapore, on 11 June 2025 (Wednesday).

This one-night-only concert brings together original singers and voice talents from the beloved films, accompanied by the Tokyo Asia Orchestra in a live performance that promises to be both nostalgic and moving.

This Singapore debut features the original vocalists who helped shape the magical soundtracks of Studio Ghibli’s most beloved titles. Audiences can look forward to live performances from:

• Yoshikazu Mera – Acclaimed countertenor best known for his soaring performance of the Princess Mononoke theme.

• Sumi Shimamoto – Celebrated voice actress and singer with roles in Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, My Neighbor Totoro, and The Castle of Cagliostro.

• Azumi Inoue – Revered for her gentle and emotive vocals in Laputa: Castle in the Sky and My Neighbor Totoro.

• Yuyu – Rising talent and daughter of Azumi Inoue, who debuted on NHK’s Minna no Uta in 2012 and brings a fresh energy to classic melodies.

The performance will include songs from Studio Ghibli classics such as Princess Mononoke, Laputa: Castle in the Sky, My Neighbor Totoro, and Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind. For longtime fans, this is a rare opportunity to hear the music as it was originally performed—by the very artists whose voices shaped generations of memories.

The concert will be elevated by the presence of the Tokyo Asia Orchestra, a 17-member ensemble led by violinist Takeshi Hashima, whose arrangements are known for their expressive beauty and precision.
